I love gathering in stories from the ethers of imagination; I've collaborated with thousands of kids (grades K-6) doing just that, during Earth Artsresidencies.
Each of our stories began with the invention of characters and the mapping of unique places - our settings. I led children through the process of creating species art, crafting character life stories, imagining and recording rich story details in their personal journals, and collaborating in the creation of classroom stories and songs. Final 'storybooks' were written by the adult art team and published for classroom use. Below are a few examples of that process. ( Please Note: All children in these pictures are now adults.)
These stories range from mini-global-warming-graphic-novels (created by 6th graders), to live action stories about garden critters, imagined and enacted by Kindergarten students. You can read sample Earth Arts NW stories HERE.
I've also work with adult storytellers as both a collaborator/editor and illustrator of their stories. If that interests you, check out my Illustration Services or Dreaming Earth Press.
And - you guessed it - I also write and illustrate children's stories of my own. I'll keep you posted about projects in the works. In the meantime...
